# Tipping Culture/ Guidelines

## Tipping Guidelines in East Africa

Although tipping is a safari tradition, it is never compulsory and should only be done if you feel that you have received good service. We recommend the following amounts:

- Safari Guides & Spotters: $15 - $20 per guest per day, usually provided directly to the individual
- Guest Representatives & Transfer Drivers: $10 - $15 per guest per day, usually provided directly
- to the individual
- Lodge/ Camp Staff: $10 - $15 per guest per day, usually placed in the tip box to be divided
- among all the lodge/ camp staff
- Restaurants: 10% of the bill is customary

Most lodges are unable to provide cash and do not accept credit cards for tipping, so please ensure you carry enough to cover your planned tipping.
